Legacy of Discord is an MMORPG that lets you make one important decision every time you sign on: would you like to fight demons, or other players? The game is equally adept at giving you both - you can play in a PvE story-like mode, or you can battle against others in the arena in round of PvP battles.

At the start of the game, you are given a choice of three characters to become: a male berserker, a sorceress, or a male bladedancer. Each comes with their own unique abilities and skills, and shows you from the start just how epic you could become. After that, the game jumps right into the action: the humans are losing the war against the demons, and you’re starting in the last place run by humans, Beacon City. You’re carried through for a while as part of a tutorial, which runs you through the paces of the game and on through the first chapter. After that you’re on your own, trying your best to level up your Battle Rating. This is what determines how strong you are, as well as what battles you will win or lose.

➔ Main points:

  • Choose one of three powerful characters
  • Upgrade your armor and equipment to make yourself stronger
  • Play through quick chapters in both manual and automatic battle modes
  • Play against others in the arena in epic PvP or PvE battles

Gardenscapes isn't your average puzzle game. Unlike most matching games where the puzzles are the main attraction, Gardenscapes gives its puzzles a further purpose. The game begins with the player inheriting a huge mansion, which includes massive gardens that have been neglected. The butler and your host, Austin, takes you through the mechanics of the game, ever cheery and smiling.

The game is divided into days, with one garden being finished in each "day". Each garden has a series of mini-tasks that need to be completed in order for the garden to be fixed. Let's say before we can plant new shrubs, we need to sweep. This is a task that takes one star to complete. So you play one puzzle/match game, earn the star, and use it to complete the task. Then the next task of getting the furniture takes a star. You play a puzzle game, get the star, and use it to pick the furniture. Then it's wash, rinse, and repeat. Within the first few tasks you'll be cleaning out a garden space, planting new greenery, and picking a fountain, all while switching between the matching game and the landscaping tasks. And it doesn't stop there. With a huge mansion and even larger, sprawling grounds, the garden possibilities are practically endless.

➔ Main points:

  • Puzzle game with engaging storyline
  • Varied gameplay makes it like two games in one
  • Lots of different characters and in-depth storytelling
  • Solid graphics with both 2D and 3D animation

Matching games have been around for, well, decades. And it seems that now with apps at our fingertips, there's a new one that comes out every week (especially around major movies releases). Cookie Jam runs the same as the others like it, except with desserts and pastries- get three or more of the same in a row to dissolve those items. Four in a row gets you a row or column eliminator, five gets you a piece of multi-coloured cake. Switching that cake gets rid of every cookie of that colour. Sound familiar?

But wait, there's more! There are pesky gingerbread men climbing over cookies and wreaking havoc on your game in some levels. In others, you need to clear the screen and drop desserts into boxes at the bottom. Still others have troublesome waffle cone pieces that need to be broken in order to continue (too bad eating them isn't an option instead!) And all the while, an adorable Parisian panda shows you the ropes with tips and tricks throughout the levels. While it's not a new concept, Cookie Jam does a great job of putting a new twist on an old favourite.

➔ Main points:

  • Easy matching game for both newbies and veterans
  • Beautiful and delicious-looking graphics
  • Keeps you busy with over a thousand levels
  • Constant updates and special events keep the game lively
